Jim’s case was both incredibly tragic and challenging to work on. He had been working overseas when he contracted a viral infection that, at first, appeared to be a relatively standard infection; he had signs of a cough, fever, and shortness of breath. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and a bad case of bronchitis and sent on his way. However, after a few weeks, his symptoms started worsening. He kept experiencing ongoing nausea, dizziness, and coughing, but it wasn’t until he woke up one morning completely paralyzed that the severity of his illness hit home.
The company tried to argue that Jim’s symptoms were fake, but numerous medical records showed that he was suffering from a variety of different issues.
